Glass Tips

Here are a few tips that will help keep your window cleaning costs down!

  • Check your sprinklers in the spring and make sure they are not hitting the windows. Hard water build-up occurs fast in Park City and it is more expensive to remove.
  • Do not pressure wash your windows! Painters will also want to pressure wash your house, but it often leaves hard water residue even with chemicals to treat the water. Hire a professional window cleaner and save the pressure washing for non-glass objects.
  • Keep the barbeque away from windows. After a while the grease builds up and it too is more difficult to remove.
    • A lot of people ask us what we put in the water to clean the windows with. Well, believe it or not we use a little dish soap (Joy). Many don't believe us at first, and then when they try it they report mixed results and tell us they will never be able to do it like us. Of course we will always have more experience than the average home owner when it comes to window cleaning, but getting professional results (especially on the insides) isn't impossible to do. The mistake most people make when taking our advice and cleaning their own windows with soap, water, and a squeegee is putting too much soap in the water! When we say dish soap many think, "it must take a lot of soap!" However, the opposite is true: you want to use just enough soap to clean (1 tsp. per gallon of water). A little goes a long way and if too much is used it creates more problems with streaks and soap build up. Hope this tip helps!
